Odd Ball Art Co. Review and Giveaway! (Giveaway closed)

Etsy Feature:
Odd Ball Art Co.

Interview with Elizabeth from Odd Ball Art Co. :

~Tell us about yourself, Elizabeth.~

I am 29 yrs. Old and I am a freelance Artist. I live in Cottam Ontario with my husband Adam and all of our animal kids. I have a doodle named Isabelle, 3 cats Punky, Maxwell, and ChiChi and a rabbit name Lou C. I started going to college wanting to do fashion design but 2 yrs into it I realized that it was the fine arts that I enjoyed much, much more. I took some art courses but ended up having to end my college years due to lack of funding. I continued studying art on my own and it’s been about six years now and I enjoy it a lot, I couldn’t imagine doing anything else. I just discovered Etsy last week and thought it would be neat to open a shop to sell some of my work. I opened my shop Oddball Art Co. up on Monday November 8 2010 and I sell original acrylic paintings, and glass rings. All of my paintings are guaranteed to be 100% original; I will never make any numbered prints or duplications of any kind so all of my works are truly one of a kind.

~What or who inspires you?~

I tend to gather inspiration from everywhere all of the time. I always seem to picture everything as how it would look as a painting, so I paint a fairly large variety of subject matters. If I would have to say who my favorite artist is, I would have to say Salvador Dali, I just love his surreal scenes that are usually so out there, their just amazing. He also paints butterflies a lot and that is a subject matter I am very familiar with as well.

~What is your all-time favorite painting in your shop?~

That’s really a hard question for me, I love all my paintings but after pondering it around for a while I have decided to say ‘Nymphalidae.” It’s so bright and colorful and full of butterflies and flowers you can’t help but feel happy when you look at it.

~5 Words to describe you:~

~My Review~
Elizabeth from Oddball Art Co. was soo wonderful to work with from day 1. She hand painted my one awesome picture to review and sent me some really cool hand blown glass rings.
The painting is so vibrant and fits my personality to a T. The picture doesn't do it much justice...it's so much brighter and very glossy in person. Seriously, I refer to myself as a bright and colorful person. I draw too, and I have a problem doing black and white pictures. I just have to add some color to it or it just doesn't look right! You can tell Elizabeth used some very good paint! As always, I asked my fiance for a second opinion and he loves it too! It is usually very hard to please him so...Bravo Oddball Art Co. ! I have it hanging in my "work" space so it gives me some inspiration to write!
I was also sent some of the Hand Blown Glass Rings to review as well.

What's really amazing about these rings is that there are designs inside the glass! Flowers, Patterns, and Swirls.
How cool is that?
These rings are very well made and have NOT broken on me and I have practically worn them everyday.

Oddball Art Co. is one shop that you should definitely consider when shopping for Christmas gifts!

Big Little Fan Frames Interview and Giveaway! (Giveaway Closed)

Big Little Fan Frames
Interview with Big Little Fan Frames:

~Tell us a little bit about yourself.~
My 'day job' is a corporate meeting and event planner for a real estate company in Atlanta, GA. I married my college sweetheart 3 years ago and we have two golden retrievers, Charlie and Sammy, that we are absolutely obsessed with! My husband has made me a huge Georgia football fan and we go back to Athens for almost all home games.  I also love traveling, volunteering and spending time with my family.
~What inspired you to start your shop?
I'm 27 so I just finished what we call the "wedding circuit"; between bachelorette parties, showers, engagement parties and weddings, it seemed like we had some sort of wedding event every weekend for the past three years. So, I guess it only makes sense that we are now entering the baby boom phase! With so many of our college friends having babies, I wanted to give them something personal. I looked around and couldn't find exactly what I wanted, so I just decided to make them. After I made a few for gifts, I had friends and family asking me to make some for them, so I decided I'd open up an Etsy page. I have fun making them and I love to see the reaction when they open it!
~What is your all-time favorite item in your shop?~
Being a huge UGA fan, I feel like I should pick a Georgia frame as my favorite, but to be honest, I love the way the Alabama frame turned out. The elephant is just so cute!
~What is your favorite quote or saying?~
We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give. Winston Churchill

North Atlantic Art Studio Review and Giveaway(Giveaway Closed)

Etsy Feature:
 North Atlantic Art Studio
Interview with North Atlantic Art Studio:

~Tell us a little bit about yourself~
A bit about myself...I am happily married to a wonderfully supportive husband, who loves how creative I am! I have a daughter and a son who are a year apart and keep me on my toes! Now that they are in school, I was able to take the leap and open an Etsy store...it has been a huge learning experience and I am open to all forms of advice
I am always evolving as an artist, wife, mom, friend, daughter...and I love to learn. I also have several autoimmune diseases...with the most prominent right now being Lupus (SLE), I try to not let my diseases run my life, but that is easier said than done, sometimes. I know there are many of you out there, just like me...my illnesses do shape my art...I use a lot of toggle clasps because they are easy to open and close if your fingers are stiff and swollen...I use lever backs on my earrings for the same reason..stiff and swollen fingers can't always thread long fish hooks through and ear lobe or put a backing onto a post....I love my versatile pieces that can be worn as a bracelet, or various ways as a necklace...that is the MOM in me...practical and thrifty...I LOVE when a creative piece provides options!!!
I am also an animal lover and I work with a local animal shelter, helping any way I can and I have even had the privilege of fostering pregnant animals in my home. I currently have one rescued golden retriever named Teton (Patrick and Indy, my two other rescued goldens, recently passed away)...I have seven kitties and one guinea pig and very many vet bills :) Ha Ha....Like I said, I have a wonderful and supportive husband.

~When and how did you become interested in making jewelry?~
I have always loved jewelry and I actually sold fine jewelry for seven years and I put myself through college that way. I became interested in making it, specifically when a bracelet of mine broke and I could not find someone to fix it...I taught myself how to fix it and voila...here I am.
~What is your favorite piece from your shop and why?~
I love my super long pearl necklaces that you can wear as a necklace (several ways) or you can wear it as a bracelet. I love versatility and options.

~5 Words to Describe you:~

 Perfectionist
Reliable
Happy
Organized
Determined

North Atlantic Art Studio's pieces are amazing! You can definitely tell just how hard the jewelry was worked on.  It looks as if each stone, crystal, and bead were added with such love and care that they are perfect.  I'm really not just saying that either. This is the necklace I received to review.

Isn't it just darling?
I went to the store yesterday wearing it and I got soo many compliments (and even a few business card requests!). I love the fact that North Atlantic Art Studio has necklaces that are so versatile that they can be worn as bracelets too.
I really appreciate the Pewter toggle clasps that they add to most of their necklaces and bracelets.
It makes everything much easier!
For instance: when you have to leave in a rush (like me most of the time!).

Uniq by Jaidra Interview and Giveaway(Giveaway Closed)

Etsy Feature:
Uniq By Jaidra
Interview with Uniq by Jaidra

~Tell Us a little bit about yourself~
Hi, I'm Jaidra and I have a bad case what my friends like to call "creativity ADD." I am a professional belly dancer, fire dancer, and henna artist. I also hand paint silks of all shapes and sizes, make jewelry, write, and spend as much time as possible outside. I grew up in the country, and I carry a deep love and respect for nature in my heart, and I hope that shows in the art that I create.

~What inspired you to start your shop?~
I began silk painting 4 years ago by hand dyeing my own dance veils and fell in love with the art form. I began selling my pieces so that I would have enough spare cash to purchase more raw materials in order to paint more silks. This is still true today. Almost every time I make a sale, I fantasize about what new material, tool, or technique I'm going to be able to try out next.
A similar phenomenon occurred with my jewelry making. I go to arts and craft fairs when I can, but I'm really hoping that my Etsy shop will help me reach a broader audience, and thus have the resources to learn and create more.

~What is your favorite item that is currently in your shop?~
My favorite item that I have up for sale right now is the abstract silk painting titled "1st week in November." I really was painting what I was feeling that day, and the combination of organic and mechanistic shapes along with the vibrant colors really makes my heart sing.
