Sparkling Gem Ornament

This craft is fun to make and is also wonderful to give as an inexpensive Christmas gift. I wouldn't recommend doing this with younger children unless you buy plastic ornaments.
Items you need:
  • Clear Glass Ball Ornament
  • Glitter Glue
  • Flat back acrylic jewel adornments
 Step 1:
Begin this jeweled ornament by removing the top covering to the ornament and set it aside.

Next, paint dots of glitter glue sporadically around the ornament.

Step 2:
Place a jewel on top of each dot of glue.  Allow to dry well.

Step 3:
Trace an outline around each gem with some glitter glue, and allow the ornament to dry well.  The ornament is now ready for the tree or to give away as a handmade gift from the heart.

If you decide to make these awesome ornaments I would LOVE to see pictures!

Lies the Government Told You By Judge Andrew Napolitano Review

About the Book:
What new crisis will the federal government manufacture in order to acquire more power over individuals? What new lies will it tell?
Throughout our history, the federal government has lied to send our children off to war, lied to take our money, lied to steal our property, lied to gain our trust, and lied to enhance its power over us. Not only does the government lie to us, we lie to ourselves. We won’t admit that each time we let the government get away with misleading us, we are allowing it to increase in size and power and decrease our personal liberty.
In acquiescing to the government’s continuous fraudulent behavior, we bear partial responsibility for the erosion of our individual liberties and the ever-expanding federal regulation of private behavior. This book attacks the culture in government that facilitates lying, and it challenges readers to recognize that culture, to confront it, and to be rid of it.

About the Author:
Taken From Author's Website

Judge Andrew P. Napolitano joined Fox News Channel (FNC) in January 1998, and currently serves as the Senior Judicial Analyst. He provides on air legal analysis every weekday throughout the day on FNC and on its sister network, Fox Business Network (FBN). He hosts “FreedomWatch” on FBN, Saturday at 10 am and 8 pm, and Sunday at 7 pm and 11 pm Eastern time. He is also the regular fill-in host for “The Glenn Beck Program” on FNC, weekdays at 5 pm.
Judge Napolitano is the youngest life-tenured Superior Court judge in the history of the State of New Jersey. While on the bench from 1987 to 1995, Judge Napolitano tried more than 150 jury trials, and sat in all parts of the Superior Court–Criminal, Civil, Equity, and Family. He has handled thousands of sentencings, motions, hearings, and divorces. For eleven years, he served as an adjunct professor of constitutional law at Seton Hall Law School, where he provided instruction in constitutional law and jurisprudence. Judge Napolitano returned to private law practice in 1995 and began television broadcasting in the same year.
Judge Napolitano has published five books on the U.S. Constitution. They are Constitutional Chaos: What Happens When The Government Breaks Its Own Laws; the New York Times bestseller, The Constitution in Exile: How the Federal Government Has Seized Power by Rewriting the Supreme Law of the Land; A Nation of Sheep; Dred Scott’s Revenge: A Legal History of Race and Freedom In America; and the New York Times bestseller Lies the Government Told You: Myth, Power, and Deception In American History.
His writings have also been published in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Los Angeles Times, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the New York Sun, the Baltimore Sun, the (New London) Day, the Seton Hall Law Review, the New Jersey Law Journal, and the Newark Star-Ledger. He lectures nationally on the Constitution and human freedom.
Judge Napolitano received his undergraduate degree from Princeton University in 1972, and received his Juris Doctor degree from University of Notre Dame in 1975.

My Review:

Judge Andrew Napolitano's new Political book is very interesting. He believes that the American people buy into lies pretty easily, and I can't disagree with him. In this book the author talks about 17 lies in particular the biggest and first being"All men are created equal". You can definitely tell by the way he writes that he is a big supporter in the Constitution. Being a political based book I really didn't know why I picked it at first to review because I thought it would be really boring! However, I found the lies that he talks about very captivating.
The lies talked about:
  1. "All Men Are Created Equal"
  2. "All Men . . . Are Endowed byTheir Creator with Certain Inalienable Rights"
  3. "Judges Are Like Umpires"
  4. "Every Vote Counts"
  5. "Congress Shall Make No Law . . . Abridging the Freedom of Speech"
  6. "The Right of the People to Keep and Bear Arms Shall Not Be Infringed"
  7. "Your Body Is Your Temple"
  8. "The Federal Reserve Shall Be Controlled by Congress"
  9. "It's Only a Temporary Government Program"
  10.  "I'm from the Government, and I'm Here to Help"
  11.  "We Are Winning the War on Drugs"
  12. "Everyone Is Innocent Until Proven Guilty"
  13. "The Constitution Applies in Good Times and in Bad Times"
  14. "Your Boys Are Not Going to Be Sent into Any Foreign Wars"
  15. "We Don't Torture"
  16. "The Right of the People to Be Secure in Their Persons, Houses, Papers, and Effects, Shall Not Be Violated"
  17. "America Has a Free Market"

If you are interested in reading books about the inconsistencies of the government this is a great book to own.

The Wolves of Andover by Kathleen Kent Review

Category: Fiction
Format: Hardcover
ISBN: 9780316068628
Pages: 320

About the Book:
In the harsh wilderness of colonial Massachusetts, Martha Allen works as a servant in her cousin's household, taking charge and locking wills with everyone. Thomas Carrier labors for the family and is known both for his immense strength and size and mysterious past. The two begin a courtship that suits their independent natures, with Thomas slowly revealing the story of his part in the English Civil War. But in the rugged new world they inhabit, danger is ever present, whether it be from the assassins sent from London to kill the executioner of Charles I or the wolves-in many forms-who hunt for blood. A love story and a tale of courage, The Wolves of Andover confirms Kathleen Kent's ability to craft powerful stories of family from colonial history.

About the Author:
Kathleen Kent lives in Dallas with her husband and son. The Heretic's Daughter is her first novel.
Most of the books that have influenced and touched me the most are historical fiction.  When I was a child I read a lot of Dickens, Poe and H.H. Monroe.   Some of my favorites from the past are The Quincunx, by Charles Palliser, Instance of the Fingerpost by Iain Pears, The Weight of Water by Anita Shreve, and The Source by James Mitchener.  I also read everything by Annie Dillard, Cormac McCarthy and Larry McMurtry.  Currently I'm re-reading a book called The Long Home by William Gay who is, to me, one of the best writers in American fiction today.

My Review
This book was wonderful for me to read...I mean it was right up my alley! I've been doing family genealogy and many of my relatives were the original settlers in this country. My family started a few towns in MA and in NJ. The funny thing is that I can relate to Kathleen Kent because one of my family members was accused  of being a witch and moved up to Canada. He wasn't obviously a witch, however, he refused to try a case against one of the "witches" and ended up being accused because of it!
Anyways, back to the review. This was very interesting and DARK in a good way. There are some pretty harsh parts in the book, but it was some pretty harsh times that they were living in. I love how the author reverts to London as well, I feel that it keeps the story relevant.  This historical fiction book is packed with plenty of drama, love, and just enough violence to make it a 4 star read!
I seriously recommend that you gals and guys read this, especially if you like reading historical based books.

Divine Jewelry by Michelle Review and Giveaway

Interview with Michelle from Divine Jewelry:
Tell us a bit about yourself, Michelle.
I just got married 5 months ago and we have purchased our first home. I work full time as a medical assistant. I have loved wearing jewelry for as long as I can remember. I decided to start making it about 5 years ago. I have started making jewelry again now that the wedding and buying our first house is over. I would say I'm addicted to making jewelry. Most night after work and dinner you will find me up in my jewelry room making one of my creations.

How about the items in you shop?
Right now I have tons of earrings. I really like making earrings because this is what I usually wear most often with the type of work I'm in. I also have started doing bracelets from wire and also memory wire. I have several different lengths of necklaces that I'm offering as well. Most of my items are silver but i can make the jewelry from 14 k gold overlay and platinum if people request it. All the thinks I make in my shop is something that I would wear.

I also run sales from 10-20 percent off at times. I have also ran free shipping deals.
What is your all-time favorite item(s) currently in your shop?

This is tough, I have quite a few items. I really like the Grey and silver bead necklace, angel earrings and the Blue and silver bracelet(shown at the top of this post). These are my three top favorites right now. I really love all the jewelry that I have designed and would love to wear it all.
What or who inspires you and why?
I get inspired by the beads. I have known to spend time in a bead store and just look around. When I find the right beads I get a picture in my head about what I can do with this bead. Most of the time I think that they will make great earrings, while some make great necklaces. I also find inspiration in jewelry that I find at the mall. Some times there is something that I like but I want to make it to my personal taste. One inspiration that I recently worked on was The Story of Christ bracelet. One of my patients had it one and told me about it. So i have designed two in my shop.
~My Review~
I was sent two pairs of earrings to review from Divine Jewelry, and I liked them. The colors were amazing along with their entire design. They came in a cute little bag (I liked it so much I saved it!) The only thing I wish is that they would come with backs to them..no biggie...easy enough fix! :) If you are ever in need of some "Date Night" or everyday jewelry make sure to stop by Divine Jewelry.

Other items I like:

Aren't these just so unique? I really love the colors in them especially the purple hue.

I was actually thinking about buying this because it would look lovely with my Christmas outfit. I adore the sparkle beads! You can purchase this bracelet from Divine Jewelry for ONLY $7.50!
