Halloween: Every Thing Goes Bump

Ok,
So I know this post is probably WAY off the usual topic but I'm going to talk about the UNUSUAL. I know some of you guys might judge me but I'm just going to say it: I BELIEVE IN GHOSTS. I'm only saying this because when I was younger I said "Hey! Lets do a seance!"and that's what my friends and I did. The craziest things happened during that seance....I said "Give us a sign...." and the cat meowed right after I said it. Then I said " Give us another sign..." and the candles went out. People always say "It's all in your head" or "They just have active imaginations" but I take it with a grain of salt. I mean what would you think if that happened to you? I'm sure you could brush it off that once thinking it was all just a big coincidence but was it?  Then there is the case of my fiance's dog staring at the wall and barking for hours at a time. If it was an apartment I would understand that she could be barking because of the neighbors...but in a house?  What I think is the craziest though, is when you are walking and just for a split second you see something out of the corner of your eye move and you just can't place a finger on what it actually is. It's like you KNOW that you just saw something or someone move but no one is home with you.  It's a very creepy feeling.

Here are some thought to be genuine portraits of the unexplained.

This next one is my favorite because I have actually gone to this cemetery and it is so creepy that the cops that stopped us from going in there told us that THEY themselves won't step foot in there after dark. You have to walk a trail (it seems like forever) through the woods to get there.
Here is a picture that was taken there:

They call her Madonna of Bachelor's Grove
To read more about this click HERE.

Reverend K.F. Lord took a picture of the altar at his church in North Yorkshire, England  and this is what came out. The picture and the negative are said to have been thoroughly examined by photographic experts and they can't find any evidence that this was either a double exposure, or artificially altered. The "thing" is calculated to be standing nine feet tall, and no one's found any record of a monk that humongous ever being at Newby Church. Who is it? What is it? Trick of light or something else? Either way it's way too creepy to not mention on this list.

Do you have any stories that you would like to share?

I sure love a great ghost story around Halloween!

Scary Video

I wonder if this is real...if it is it's freaky!
In lieu of Halloween:

What do you guys think?
I kind of got the chills when I watched this but that's just me. I love everything mysterious and this one is great!

Buzzed Driving is Drunk Driving

Here is a story:
On my fiance's 18th birthday we were hit by a drunk driver who wasn't insured. Our car was finished after that day. Luckily, nobody was seriously hurt but the police and doctors told us it could have been WAY worse. I thought I would spread the word because with Halloween comes drinking.
It is EXTREMELY important that you aren't distracted while out with your children because you never know what's around the corner(or who).
Here is a list of Non- Alcoholic Party Drinks

In case you do decide to drink this Halloween here is a Alternative Ride Locater.

Click HERE to sign the pledge not to drink and drive.

Please plan ahead and find a sober driver BEFORE you start drinking

Crafts On a Dime: Autumn Leaf Wreath

Leaf Wreath
~This is a little bit sideways sorry! Obviously the bow goes on the bottom~
I found this awesome money saving craft on Crafts For All Seasons. I really love that site so I thought I would feature one of my favorite Autumn crafts from there! This is an A+ Craft to do with Children! Gets you out of the  house a bit to pick the pretty leaves!

Items that you Need:
  • Fresh Fall Leaves...the more colors you find the greater the design!
  • Paper plate (preferably white, but any in autumn colors would look great too!)
  • Scissors
  • Ribbon in your choice of color
  • Glue (any kind is ok...just not the stick)

Go for a walk and collect 20-25 freshly fallen colorful leaves. These ones will be the easiest to glue on.

Cut the middle out from a paper plate.  Fold the plate in half to get the cut started in the middle, then cut along the rim to make about a 2 inch paperplate border (young kids may need help with this part).

Continue building the wreath by gluing each leaf to the paper plate.  Slightly overlap each leaf.  For this leaf craft, have each leaf point in the same direction, with the stems pointing inward.

Clip the Stem From Each Leaf.

Tie a nice bow with the ribbon of your choice
and Glue it on the wreath!

And you are Finished!

Leave me your comments! :)

Thanks again to Crafts For All Seasons!

Autumn Memories

If you don't already know this, my favorite season of the year is Fall. I really love it when the weather cools down from the blistering heat of the summer enough to enjoy a good cup of Hot Chocolate.
Some of my fondest memories are in this season.  Like the first weeks when the leaves start falling from the trees and you walk on the edge of the sidewalks just so you can crunch them. This is the time of year when everybody gets out (or buys) their cinnamon apple, sugar cookie, or pine tree candles and potpourri. I'm going to use my mom's house as an example. The moment I walk through her front door (I don't knock...lol...she doesn't like it!) I can smell every candle she burns; and let me tell you it is the best homey feeling in the world!
It's still warm enough to go for walks and actually enjoy it (unless you like the cold).
I must inform you guys that my birthday is also in the fall. November in fact! Awww, November......Thanksgiving Turkey, sweet potatoes, and pumpkin pie. All this talk of food is making my stomach grumble! This is the time you are so full but you don't go to sleep because tonight is when the best deals are! Day after Thanksgiving sales I hear are a blast!
Just thought I'd share some of my favorite memories of the season. :)

What are your favorite memories?
I'd really love to hear them!
xoxo

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Oct. is the National Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Facts about Breast Cancer
  • One of the most common cancer in women in the USA
  • Each year an estimated 200,000 women will be diagnosed with Breast Cancer and an estimated 40,000 will die.
  •  Half of the women diagnosed with breast cancer are over the age of 65.
  • Weight is a big risk factor. Physical activity and a healthy diet can reduce your risk of developing it.
  •  Breast cancer in your family can raise your risk.
Create an Early Detection Plan:
Having an early detection plan is important because finding and detecting it early on can prevent it from spreading to other areas.  When breast cancer is found early on the 5 year survival rate is 98%.

By Age:
  • At 20 years old:
You should  start performing breast self-exams and look for any signs of change
  • Age 20-39
Begin having regular clinical breast exams every three years.
  • 40 years old
You should have a baseline mammogram and an annual clinical breast exam.
  • Ages 40-49
Have a mammogram every 1 to 2 years.
  • Ages 50 and older
Have a mammogram every year

My stepmother was diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast cancer earlier this year.  I just wanted to share the information above with my readers so you can detect it early if it happens to you.
My father with is save the ta tas t-shirt after a race in Downtown Chicago.
